Here at Bell Street, we have always made custom wedding dresses and Ali has become known for her beautiful beading and embroidery work. We are now offering this as a standalone service, meaning we can add couture-style hand embellishment to existing garments including wedding dresses and SUITS! We have done a few fabulously sparkly wedding suits and are excited to decorate more.
We can also make custom headpieces, veils, belts, patches or any other accessory you can dream of. We love weird ideas - if you want a sparkly gecko crawling up the train of your wedding dress, we can do it! Want a weird in-joke hidden in the design of your veil? Easy!
Ali is trained in many different traditional embellishment techniques and has developed a unique style of her own that combines different methods and materials. These techniques include but are not limited to:
- Tambour embroidery (Ali prefers the Indian Ari style that is worked from the top, but can also do the French Luneville style technique working from underneath)
- English style hand embroidery/surface embroidery
- Mexican Otomi embroidery
- Ribbon embroidery
- lace applique
- gold work (the style seen on military uniforms)
- Beading
- Sequins
- Fabric flowers
